I bought a 1987 Dodge Dakota V6 2 months ago. Had a stalling problem since the get go. Changed the fuel filter, seemed to fix it for a month. Then it started again so we changed it again. Now the problem is it still stalls out as soon as you throw it into drive, Since we bought it we have changed a lot. To try to fix the problem we have changed93 dakota stalling at 1200 rpm. I have a 95 dakota that stalls at about 1200 rpm as well. Same 3.9 engine and about 85K miles. I haven't tried gasing is hard to get past 1200 rpm. My situation is sporadic and only happening twice several months apart. However, I have noticed if I let the truck sit a couple minutes it fires right back up andTruck intermittently shudders/stalls while driving. No check engine light & code "P Done" displays. Replaced camshaft sensor & crank shaft sensor (including connectors for both sensors). Still have same problem. Dodge mechanic believes it's ECM. ECM was replaced a little over a year ago. I'm at the end of my rope with this problem. My 2000 Dodge Dakota if I'm sitting with it idling too long like drive up at bank or McDonald's or whatever it dies sometimes it'll start right back up sometimes it won't I then either let it sit or I have to unplug the computer under the hood ND and disconnect the negative side of the battery this problem also occurs while driving down the road I got a code of p0700 off the truck but when itIt is automatic and has about 78k miles and has been annually serviced with no problems, but recently it has been dangerously stalling during driving. It only happens at intersections or places where the vehicle is stopped after moving. It will give me a hard time to start it back up after it stalls. I have no idea why this is happening... any input is appreciated.

I have replaced the ASD, Crank sensor, and the PCM twice.I ask about putting it "neutral" before it stalls because my 4.7l/auto has done when stopping st a red light or stop sign. I never did find the cause. It will happen a few times over several days and then it just stops acting up. Feels like the 45-RFE and 4.7L are locked together and stalling when the truck comes to a stop.Dodge Dakota JOIN HERE 12/25/2011 14:28:19: RE: 3.9L engine stalling IP: Logged Message: To all of the Dodge Dakota owners that have been having stalling problems, I took my pcm out, sprayed it with contact cleaner, loosened the two torques head bolt under the harness connection on the pcm a quarter of a turn. I bought Dielectric grease.

Hmmm.
How are the shifts: 1-2, 2-3, 3-4?
Is there any indication of a harsh engagement from neutral to power or opposite?
At the instant I can't bring to mind an engine management component or common major that would motive this symptom only in opposite. My preliminary pondering is this could be a transmission problem.
A locked up converter would reason stalling in pressure as neatly. However, at power away one normally begins at release and continues to a few road velocity. In reverse, one typically launches then temporarily reduces pace. This type of scenario might be overlaying a problem that exists in forward motion, too.
A hanging converter clutch or band might purpose this symptom that only seems to manifest itself in opposite. I believe a broken planetary gearset could additionally give you this downside. You have a 42RE transmission. Converter snatch and sticky shift solenoids are a couple of the extra common component problems, damaged bands and/or planetary gears very, very rarely.
Just as an apart, what is the transmission history on this vehicle? Has it ever been repaired or rebuilt? Have you performed regimen transmission maiontenance? How many miles in this truck?
Regards,Dusty
